Dr. Naoki Yoshie, Assistant Professor of Global COE at
the Division of Coastal Oceanography, Center for Marine
Environmental Studies (CMES), Ehime University, Japan
received the Okada Prize at 2010 annual meeting of the
Oceanographic Society of Japan, which was held on 28
March 2010 at the Tokyo University of Marine Science and
Technology. Okada Prize has been given since 1964 to
young scientist under 35 years old for excellent study
in the field of oceanography. Dr. Yoshie was given the
prize for his research on “Breakthrough in the marine
plankton dynamics and their biogeochemical functions
with numerical models”. He has conducted outstanding
research on the marine ecosystem dynamics and
biogeochemical cycles by combining both field
observations and numerical models for predicting the
ecosystem responses to environmental changes, whose
importance has been recognized internationally.
